Whether you are already a member or haven’t tried the site yet, you too can get yourself a free fiver voucher code for Tombola Bingo.  Thus far they’ve given out more than £150,000 but there is still plenty available as anyone has the opportunity to claim one.  There isn’t anything new about giving out free bonus money as most of the sites do this however, there is one thing that is rare in Tombola’s promo – you can cash out your winnings from the free vouchers!

These codes are being emailed to current members and are available in several popular weeklies but if you haven’t seen one, simply go to this link: http://www.freebingohunter.com/all-can-claim/tombola-bingo-fbh.jsp and you can request a code to be sent to you.

Once you’ve signed up, they have a fun daily free play game for all members called the Lucky Pick so each day gives you another chance to win cash for free.  There are plenty of exciting promotions and special games available so you won’t regret giving them a go, either.  They’re even looking for people to star in their new television advert campaign.

Gala Bingo Announces Luckiest Bingo Towns Friday, October 16th, 2009

Gala Bingo recently completed a survey and compilation of various statistics.  They have released the statistics for what seem to be the luckiest towns and regions for the past year.  They base the final winners on the highest average win per player so obviously, the results are skewed.  If one person wins a huge jackpot, that will make the average go up.  A more accurate summary would have been which town/area has the highest number of winners but hey, we’ll take what we can get.

Apparently, the figures show these towns as the ten luckiest for the past year, luckiest at the top and going in descending order:

Harrogate
Exeter
Dudley
Cleveland
Norwich
Crewe
Inverness
Motherwell
Stevenage
Portsmouth

As to luckiest regions, they were released as follows (again in descending order):

North East
Wales
Northern Ireland
West Midlands
South West
East Midlands
North West
Scotland
South East
Greater London

Of course, Gala Bingo is going on just their membership stats and while they are a huge player, there are many other online bingo sites around.  I hope no one takes this news too terribly seriously as it truly doesn’t mean a whole lot.

A bingo player from Abergale, Wales was ecstatic and disbelieving at first when she placed a bet of a mere 25p on the Galaxy Bingo side game and ended up hitting the progressive jackpot.  As she was playing two different games at the same time, she at first didn’t even realize she had won.  Once she noticed, she was under the impression it was for a lesser amount, £400, which pleased her anyway.

When she realized she had actually won £67,000 she said she couldn’t believe her luck and was completely amazed.  She says that she is planning to use the surprise windfall to remodel her house, which she was unable to afford to do before now.

Galaxy Bingo was introduced in March of this year and has become one of the most popular scratchcard games on the Gala Bingo website.  It’s a simple game, really.  You choose what you want to wager and then mark the numbers on the card.  When you get all of the numbers in a line during the first 15 bingo balls, you win a prize.

Now the progressive jackpot is building again and you could be the next big winner.  All you need to do is get yourself over to Gala Bingo and register.  Deposit whatever amount you wish to have in your account and start playing.  There are plenty of great bingo games going on every minute of the day at Gala Bingo as well as a good variety of other side games.

The Daily Mail posted quite the story on Saturday on the internet version of the paper called Mail Online.  They did an interview with Ian Burke, chief executive of Rank Group – Mecca’s parent company.  This interview took place in the bright pink Mecca club in Beeston where customers are served cappuccinos, wine and food right at their tables during games.  The new design of the club also features bar areas where patrons can forego the traditionally quieter tables and talk without worry of angering fellow bingo players.

Burke says that they’ve “taken some market share from our competitors here, but we’re also growing the local market”.   Gala Coral boss Neil Goulden, on the other hand, scoffs at the new style bingo club that Mecca is introducing, calling it “middleclass people telling workingclass people how they should play bingo.”

The new club seems to be attracting a pretty good crowd, with weekly attendance almost as much as the three Gala clubs combined.  Things like rock and roll bingo and the after-dark-bin-glo bingo where people are encouraged to dress funky and mark each other up with fluorescent daubers, are apparently things that are going over big with the bingo fans in the area.

Burke said, “We want to be the leading, not the biggest.  Clearly this concept is quite different from anything else in the industy.  According to our focus group, customers are delighted with it.”

While the Mail referred to it as “bingo wars”, we fail to see the war going on.  Gala seems to be continuing on with the traditional concept as always and do not appear to be overly concerned with the new Rank style club.  Can there be a war when the other party doesn’t seem to be worried?

FreeBingo UK Player’s Meet 17 October Saturday, October 10th, 2009

FreeBingo UK is one of the most popular choices for free-to-play bingo and this week should prove to be extra fun for the players.  On Saturday, there will be the largest ever offline event for the players at FreeBingo UK.  They will be gathering in Blackpool for the second Official FreeBingo UK Player’s Meet.

Bingo players will have the opportunity to meet the other players that they’ve previously known only be screen name while they enjoy strolling alongside the Blackpool Pleasure Beach or ride the UK’s highest rollercoaster – the Pepsi Max Big One.  Of course, I’m sure they will all enjoy the large variety of theme park rides also available.

After a day of fun outside, the players will get together for the Rock and Roll Bingo event.  One of the latest exciting versions of bingo to hit the country, rock and roll bingo involves recognising the song being played and marking it off on the special bingo ticket rather than the traditional numbers.

The first event the site organised was back in July with a big day out at Alton Towers.  The event was such a big hit that they decided to have another one and hope to involve even more of their 170,00 plus membership.  To promote the event, the site was given a Blackpool theme complete with rollercoaster graphic.

In a press release, the manager of FreeBingo UK, Wayne Howe said, “Everyone is really excited about the Blackpool trip.  It is a great opportunity for the players to have a great day out and finally meet their online bingo friends for the first time.  The first trip we did to Alton Towers was lots of fun, but this next trip promises to be so much bigger and better.  Blackpool won’t know what has hit it when FreeBingo UK comes to town!”

Gala Coral Restructuring to Reduce Debt Load Wednesday, October 7th, 2009

We all have read about or seen for ourselves the bingo halls that seem to be closing every week so it’s no surprise that Gala Coral is in some financial trouble.  What was a bit shocking was learning just how high that debt was – £2.6 billion!  While the pressure from the smoking ban and the new bingo tax is great, there was obviously money woes far before those events to have that much debt.

Now the three private equity owners behind Gala Coral (Candover, Cinven and Permira) are about to give up half their equity in exchange for cancellation of £540 million of their massive debt.  Reports have said that this would enable the group to free up cash that can be invested back into the business rather than their cash going to debt payments every month.

Gala Coral stilll has almost 2,000 betting offices, 148 bingo halls, 27 casinos and two greyhound tracks along with their online operations.  They currently employ almost 20,000 people.

The debt-equity swap is supposed to be finalised by the end of October and then perhaps we will see if this enables Gala to recover.  They have not released any details on just what they plan on doing with the business but it’s likely to expect more of an online push than before with it’s lower overhead and operating costs.

Yet another online bingo site has launched and the theme makes it obvious that it is British to the core.  Called Churchill Bingo, it features a cartoonish picture of Winston Churchill along with the traditional red double-decker cruising along.  Of course, to complete the theme, you’ll find plenty of Union Jacks.

The site is using Interactive Playnet software as it’s gaming platform.  It features a good selection of both 75 ball bingo and the popular 90 ball bingo games.  Of course, they also offer a wide assortment of side games including slots and popular casino games.

The site is starting things off with a good offer for new players.  They will give you £10 to play bingo and there is no wagering requirement – that’s almost unheard of these days.  Then they will give you a huge 250% bonus on your first deposit, should you decide to stay with the site.

The site has four bingo room so far with bingo ticket prices starting at a low 5p each.  They have some great promotions for a new site, too.  There are weekly bingo tournaments and top players are awarded points that can be exchanged for real cash bingo game tickets.  They have several nice sized guaranteed jackpot games at this time including Skippy’s Gold with it’s very nice £2,000 jackpot and the monthly game with £2,500 to be won.

Support is ever available with live staff around the clock as well as great chat rooms.  Chat games are also awarded points that can be exchanged for tickets to the real cash games.

Win Tickets to Annual Foxy Bingo Cruise Friday, October 2nd, 2009

The annual Foxy Bingo cruise will be going from Hill to Rotterdam on 16 November.  From now until the day before the cruise, you will have the chance to forgo the normally £80 ticket cost because Foxy Bingo is giving out 6 pairs of tickets as prizes.  Just play and bingo in their special games and you could take the cruise for free.

The special games take place every hour from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm and then again in the evenings from 7:30 pm to 10:30 pm.  Tickets are priced low at only 10p each so anyone can afford to take a chance on getting the cruise prize.    To give you even more chances to win tickets to the annual cruise, they will also hold a prize draw.  Each time you bingo on the cruise ship pattern in the special games, you will get an entry into the prize draw.

Prizes are more than just the cruise tickets as you can see:

1st prize – two tickets to the Foxy Bingo annual cruise
2nd prize – two bottles of rum (so you can pretend you’re on the cruise)
3rd prize – £75 cash
4h prize – £50 cash
5th prize – a bouquet of tulips

Even if you don’t win, the small outlay of £80 sounds pretty reasonable for a cruise that Foxy Bingo players always rave about.  What a great day it would be to meet in person with all your bingo roomies, instead of just chatting.

Happy Birthday to Gala Bingo TV Thursday, October 1st, 2009

It’s hard to believe that Gala Bingo TV has been around and entertaining us for three whole years.  It seems like just yesterday everyone was aghast at the new and daring venue that Gala was venturing into when they introduced their interactive bingo channel.  Who would have thought that people would have so much fun with the easy access offered through the Sky remote?

After three years, can Gala Bingo TV continue to keep us entertained?  Well, they are certainly off to a great start this month.  They are bringing back the very popular Showbiz Bingo every Friday evening at 8 pm and have lots of celebrity dish to present, coming from Dean Piper of Heat Magazine and even Mr. Showbiz of the Sunday Mirror.

Their actual birthday is this coming Sunday so of course, they are hosting a special event.  From 6 pm through 10 pm Sunday night they will have a buy three, get one free bingo ticket deal.  As Paul Tremain, director of programmes, says the company “thought it would be rather nice to share the birthday gifts.”

They’ve clearly done something right as the channel pays roughly £20,000 each and every night with about 200,000 winners annually.  That shows a viewership of more than many shows on the telly these days so Gala Bingo TV, here’s to many more birthdays to come – cheers!

Interesting Tactics by William Hill Bingo Tuesday, September 29th, 2009

Members of Blackpool Club Bingo, Tiki Bingo or Prestige Bingo may be wondering what happened to their favourite bingo sites.  Well, owner William Hill Bingo has decided to consolidate all three of those sites into one brand, Ruby Bingo.  The site runs on Playtech software and has a very slick design and interface without the bubble gum colours found on many online bingo sites.  However, great design or not, we have to wonder what William Hill expects to get from this merger.

The site does offer a no deposit required bingo bonus, however it is £5 lower than the Blackpool Club used to give, at only £16 and a very nice 300% match bonus for first time deposits.  There is a good selection of bingo games, both 75 ball and 90 ball, along with a good number of side games.  There isn’t anything that struck as standing out about their promotions but perhaps that will come with time?

Honestly, the site seems to be more in line with funnelling traffic through to the William Hill Bingo site as a pop-up shows on the home page of Ruby Bingo that offers a £25 bonus for signing up on William Hill Bingo.  We could be wrong but our feeling is that once they’ve enticed many of the players over to the other site, we see them consolidating further and Ruby Bingo will disappear as well.  Time will tell.

Given the huge number of UK online bingo sites and the fierce competition for players, consolidation does make financial sense for the bigger players.  Doing it slowly as William Hill Bingo seems to be doing may be the easiest way to make the transition, for both players and operators.
